A taste of the book
From the Introduction
The defining moment that launched the formalization of CAREHQI® occurred in 2014, while I was facilitating a mandatory Transition Assistance Program course at Fleet & Family Support Center Norfolk. After three days of instruction focused on résumés, interviewing skills, and VA benefits, a Marine staff sergeant voiced the crisis perfectly:
“Chief, I can lead a rifle platoon in Fallujah. Why can't I figure out how to get a job at Home Depot?”
This highly competent Marine had mastered combat leadership — a system built on obedience, hierarchy, and mission execution. The civilian job search demands autonomous self-direction, identity coherence, and cultural translation — skills built on an opposite operating system. This transition is not a tactical problem. It is architectural.
